The romantic Nora Roberts and the mysterious J.D. Robb have both signed on to help finance the building of a new library in Coalville, Utah, one that will replace the facility now housed in a 900 square foot city office room. Roberts, Robb and over fifty additional bestselling authors have contributed their autographs to Jo’s Library Quilt, a project initiated by Coalville resident Jo Garver.

Garver’s inspiration for designing and using a quilt to acquire funds for a new library came from reading the book The Sugar Camp Quilt by Jennifer Chiaverini, which focuses on a similar project. Jo’s Library Quilt uses a design created by Christine Thresh that uses a library book shelf pattern. Coalville Librarian Yvonne Judd has directed the quilting project, to which local quilters Nelda Staples, Annette Moore, Lisa Bagnell, Linda Vernon, Rona Wright, Trudy Geary, Tami Stevens and Jeanette Vernon have contributed.

Those who donate to the library project receive a chance to win the quilt in a drawing to be scheduled approximately 90 days after its anticipated September 2010 completion date. Donations may be made online though Garver’s website;  by mail to Jo's Library Quilt,1470 S. Hoytsville Rd.,Coalville, UT 84017; or personally at Cindy’s Floral and Gifts in Coalville.

Garver discovered that many authors were eager to endorse her project. In addition to providing the signatures she requested, some sent autographed copies of their books and their own donations to the library campaign. As a result, the drawing for the quilt has been extended to include additional drawings for that autographed book collection and for a collage incorporating additional author signatures.
